so sometimes storybook
Because of a lack of happy childhood memories, I sometimes take to inventing some, and lately I have come also to place you there with me, nestled deeply in a lifetime that never was (but should have been).
I see us running in a schoolyard, in the front of an orphanage, perhaps. Maybe I am your only friend, or, much more likely, you are mine. In this waking dream you are older, wiser, and I lean into you with a great sigh of relief.
You alternate between teasing me mercilessly and sighing at me, and I wouldn't have it any other way. You are far more melancholic than me by nature, but with me you smile, and I gladly play your fool.
